Our Framework of Inqueery...

*Inqueery - A term we use to refer to research methodologies that are rooted in marginalized queer cultures, embraces fumbling and failure, adopts adaptability (“switchiness”) and centers non-normative forms of process driven curiosity & exploration as modes of making. This is just the beginning of an ever expanding set of questions we are using to guide our work. Often these generate more questions, many unanswerable, which supports a humble queer-fumbling process.
Earth - Kinships- Respect & Negotiation
  • Expressive Creation Response to:
    • What lands do you have connections with?
    • Lands that chose you?
    • Lands that you chose?
    • How do these land connections influence your healing & creative practice, if at all?

  • Expressive Creation Response to: Who are your Kinships?
    • Who are the people closest to us?
    • What are the conditions that allow us to build chosen families / chosen ecosystems?
    • What are the conditions that sustain these tight knit connections?
    • How do you navigate consent, boundaries, safety & varying needs together? How/where does healing, creativity & ‘Trans Fabulosity’ show up?
Air - Neighbourhoods & Place - Truth - Transformative Justice
  • kumari giles’ - Expressive Creation Response:
    • What are the kind of baseline rituals and practices?
    • What are the ones that bring me into more of a thriving place?
    • What are the ones that bring me into a celebratory place?
    • What are the ones that bring me into a reflective place?
    • What does home feel like?
    • What does scarcity feel like?
    • What does it feel like to offer care and to receive care?
    • What does it feel like to offer love and to receive love?
    • How can we access our vulnerability
      • Not necessarily external - how do we acknowledge how it shows up in ourselves - how we choose when to share it?
      • What is the process? How do we value the process? We believe the transformation and healing happens here.

  • What is my body giving me a resounding yes too and how can I listen to that resounding enthusiastic yes?
    • It is something I need to internally shift?
    • Is it a dynamic I need to shift?
    • Or am I just not interested in this thing particularly right now, that is, in a way that I can dedicate the kind of energy that I want to dedicate to it?
Spirit/ Magic - OUR Spaces - Wisdom & Love
  • Expressive Creation Response: What is Trans* Magic?
    • What are the ingredients in a Trans spell?
    • How do you manifest your love? Your boundaries? Your Armor? Your magic?
    • What is the magic in OUR spaces? Our cultures?
    • What is needed to protect, sustain & grow our magic?

Fire-Communities-Courage-Organizing-Regenerative Reciprocity:
  • Expressive creation prompts by Lamia Gibson:
    • We are connected always.. what ways do we respond to the world around us through the art channelling through our beings?
    • What crying can we hear and respond to?
  • Who is your community? Who isn’t? Grey zones?
  • How do we support the ‘Trans Fabulosity’ of others around us?
  • How do we bring our kinships into our greater Trans* community?
  • What are the commons of your communities?
  • What are the institutions of your communities?
  • Whose shoulders do I stand on? > Lineages, histories, supports
  • Where do you experience belonging if at all?

  • Our goal is not community charity, it is solidarity, it is Regenerative Reciprocity amongst Trans People!
    • What is needed to move in that direction?
    • What could that look like?
    • What do we need from others for our wellness?
    • What can we offer others for their wellness?
    • What exchanges will encourage radical growth and change?
    • Where do we develop the courage needed to seek & offer support?
      • We know this can be especially risky for diverse Trans people…
  • How do we build organizing capacity when the risks are high & supports are low?
    • In what “spaces” have you experienced being invited into ‘Regenerative Reciprocity” in (y)our communities, if ever?
    • What are the characteristics, qualities & physical dimensions of these ‘spaces’?
      • Real or imagined…?

Neighbourhood & Place
  • What are the shapes, textures, topographies, architectures, demographics and/or feelings of your neighbourhood?
  • What are the places you frequent in your neighbourhood & why? What do you avoid?
  • What kinds of relationships do you have in your neighbourhood?
  • What would an “ideal neighbourhood” look like for you?
    • What kinds of relationships would be supported?
    • What structures would be here? What purpose would they serve?
    • How would this neighbourhood center the healing & creativity of Trans people?
